Jack's adventures

Well, I was dreading June 18th. The day I went back to work.
I've been back for 2 weeks now and I'm surprised we've adjusted so well.
Jack is doing great during the day and I'm coping well for the most of the day. It's somewhat nice being back as a productive member of society, but I'd love to work only a 5 hour day ;)

As a result of being back to work, I've been taking fewer pictures.
Enjoy the ones below!

Jack turned 4months June 3!

He enjoyed our new seating area out back.

Jack made Hannah unsure about holding him.

Brayden is being a little more brave despite Jack's screams.

All the cousins squirming and kicking like Jack.

Jack had a visit with his friend Dorothy! They had a grand ol' time smiling at each other.

My first loaf of fancy bread.

Still a smiley guy! We even get some giggles now on occasion!

The kids napping on the floor.

I'm making "real" dinners again. Fish and grilled vege panzanella.

He found his thumb. Sometimes his fist, and sometimes both hands.

GG Faye came over to help me with some room design.
She and Jack had a good chat while she was here.

Can't wait to share the fun of the 4th with you soon!

We're Going to the Zoo

In an effort to fit in something fun during my last few days of maternity leave (I'm still in denial about it), we went to the ZOO!
It was discount Tuesday, which made it even MORE fun because it was SO much cheaper than a normal day.

Thanks for driving up sister and cousins, and joining in on the fun!
Thanks for helping Grammy!

Jack is SO excited for his first zoo adventure

Searching for polar bears

More searching

Grammy and the boys

On the way to the elephants

Hannah seems pleased by getting to see the elephants.
It was the animal she most wanted to see :)

Jack is not so sure what to think of all these animal creatures

See-sters and the kiddlets

Searching for monkeys I believe

Our little animals playing with the animals

ok, now...
The real animals.

It was a good animal day
Lots of them were out to play
We had lots of fun on our trip to the zoo
I hope you enjoy the pictures too!
(sorry for the spontaneous poem, it just happened and I couldn't help myself)

Jack's First Road Trip

Idaho

HEADING OUT

A little family photo from the road.
We managed to get on the road at 8:30.
419 miles to go

Jack was a dream traveler. He slept the whole time except for when he would wake up because he was hungry. Can't blame the boy!
On the way there we stopped in Boardman and just over the state line at Cabelas in Idaho.

Looong road ahead.

Here are Jack and I in the parking lot at Cabela's.
Steve went in to shop around a bit :)

Just after 5 o'clock we arrived!

 GRANDMA AND GRANDPA'S FARM

Jack asleep after some floor play time. Wore himself out.

I see a pattern developing. The top picture is when Jack is just shy of 4 months, and below he is just over a month old.

Jack was such a smiley boy every time I changed his diaper on vacation!

We got to take a tour of the farm:)

Here is Joe.
Joe didn't appreciate Bailey trying to get too close to his feed.
I also bet Joe didn't like Bailey's howling all night long.

Grandma harvesting some fresh asparagus for lunch

Steve admiring the garden

Checking out how many peaches are on the tree in the green house

Grandpa went to rescue Bailey since she couldn't figure out how to get herself back around to join the party. She is such a city dog

The backyard

Bailey exploring

Taking a walk along the back fence.

Jack might not have stayed awake to take it all in.

Walking back to the house from our adventure touring the property

Jack chillin' in "his car"
It bounces and vibrates like he's driving in a car. He's taken LOTS of "road trips" in that seat

Jack just did not want his picture taken at this moment!

The deer came to visit our last night

There, Jack is a happy boy with Grandma!

Jack being much more cooperative for a picture with Grandma and Grandpa this time

GOING HOME

Our strategy on the way home was just drive until Jack needed to stop.
We made it all the way from Idaho to Maryhill in the gorge!
Way to go Jack!
It was a lovely little spot to stop and enjoy lunch on the way home.

Jack gets to eat first of course.

Getting blown away by the wind in the gorge

Well 40 minutes down the road Jack declared he was still hungry.

This was our 2nd "rest stop"
Too bad Uncle Ken and Aunt Mary were out and about and missed our visit :(

Jack just can't believe he missed them again!
But he sure did like his visit there.

Time to head back out on the road for the final push home.

LOTS of adventure. LOTS of family. LOTS of fun.

Now it's time for lots of resting up and laundry.

A LITTLE EXTRA BONUS
Bath time pictures
This was bath time the night before we left for Idaho. Gettin' cleaned up for the trip!

Jack does not mind bath time at all

 All wrapped up and clean!

Here is Jack sporting his Duncan onesie he got from Auntie Pamela!
Showing off his Scottish pride!

AFTER THE TRIP

We weighed Jack after we got home and he's about 14.5 lbs
Hard to believe he's already such a big guy!

A SURPRISE BLESSING!!!
When we pulled into the drive way, things were not as we had left them!
Some Duncan elves had come and planted flowers in the front pots...

rototilled the front bed and planted our nasturtiums....

and rototilled the garden so it's ready for us to plant!

Thanks little elves! What a marvelous treat to come home to!

Thanks for 'taking the trip' with us! Hope you enjoyed seeing all Jack's adventures!!!
